Disorders of Extreme Stress
An early configuration of CPTSD. Proposed for inclusion in the 4th edition of the DSM, DESNOS consisted of six domains of impairment: affect dysregulation, somatization, dissociation, and negative attributions about self, relationships and systems of meaning. Despite never being formally recognized as a separate diagnosis by the American Psychiatric Association, was acknowledged as an Associated Feature of PTSD in DSM-IV. Made largely obsolete by a reconfiguration of CPTSD in the late 2000’s.
