Evidence-Based Practice

The reliance upon empirical data gathered from research and evaluation to guide the design and refinement of medical or therapeutic services, interventions or treatments. Intended to be an evolving process that continually incorporates new information about approaches and elements demonstrated to be effective in treatment of a specific condition, as well as modifications needed to adapt an intervention to meet the unique needs of other service settings or client populations. Often used interchangeably with the more specific term Empirically-Supported Treatment.
