Little T Trauma

An outdated misnomer that referred to stressful life experiences not considered to be of sufficiently high magnitude to meet diagnostic criteria for PTSD. Problematically lumped together stressful but manageable stressors common in adult daily life with forms of complex trauma in childhood, such as emotional abuse and neglect, that have been well established by neuroscientific, pediatric, and psychological research to have an equal or greater impact than Big T Trauma exposure on child development, psychopathology, and functioning across the lifespan.
