Resilience
There have been a variety of definitions of resilience across decades of multidisciplinary literature. In the trauma literature, resilience is generally conceptualized as the capacity to survive and overcome adversity, in order to effectively engage in positive lifelong development. Culturally responsive models of resilience further recognize the importance of an individual or community’s capacity to access and utilize available resources.
